St. Bernadette School recognizes the great importance of parent, family, and community involvement in increasing student success. Our building has been identified as a target assisted school through Lancaster City Schools.
Responsibility for student success and achievement is shared by the teacher, the family, the students, and the community at large. A Home and School Partnership Agreement for each student shows the team effort to help each student achieve Ohio's high standards.
How Families Can Take Part
Parents and family members are invited to assist in planning, reviewing, and offering suggestions on school programs through various formats, such as Home and School meetings or informational suggestions to the school staff. To ensure that Title I and other programs meet the needs of the students, parents will be given an annual needs assessment survey. Parents are encouraged to become involved in their child's school, and are invited to visit and observe their child's classroom.
Communication Between School and Home
Family is very important, and frequent communication regarding student progress will be encouraged between school and home. If there is significant concern about a student's progress, or if there is a significant change in the progress report card, teachers are encouraged to speak with parents promptly, especially before the progress report is sent home.
Parent/Family-Teacher Conferences will be held on regularly scheduled conference days. The Title I teacher involved in reading and math programs will consult with the regular classroom teachers and parents regarding student progress. Title I teachers will be readily accessible to parents and will respond promptly to parent recommendations.
Title I and other information will always be relayed to parents in an understandable format. If you have questions or concerns, we will provide help.
Annual Meeting
At an annual fall meeting, parents will be provided with an explanation of the year's programs and curriculum, including how Title I funding is used. The current Parent and Community Involvement Policy will be made available, and your suggestions are invited.
